and this is why I don't build houses...

I've planned a playdate for the kids tomorrow, to build gingerbread houses- ok well, decorate gingerbread houses. So us mums were given the task of building the lovely homes for the gingerbread people, while our little 2yr old boys sleep. Well... fingers crossed that my son's house is still standing tomorrow morning. Do you know how complicated those house kits are ?? The icing has to be just the right consistency- like toothpaste it says, and it's supposed to set really quickly. Well, my son's little house sort of looks like it's full of icicles hanging from every single joint. Festive and winter-y...right? Well, I felt bad that it looks so drippy, so I went ahead and added a door, windows, a front walkway- a stone walkway, his name on the board..the whole shabam. I was going to do shingles but I think I will try to make a thicker paste for that daunting task, to be tackled in the wee hours of the morning- BEFORE he wakes up. Why do I do this to myself? he's 2....do you think he cares what the gingerbread house actually looks like? He's just going to want to dip the gumdrops in icing, pretend to stick them to the house, and then eat the gumdrops himself. Some of them may make it to the walls of the house- but I can pretty much bet money that they'll be gooey and half-eaten.
